This intervention has allowed for the recovery and enhancement of a key defensive element of the Immediate Line, a system built between 1938 and 1939 to protect the city of València. The machine gun nest, a square-plan “pillbox” with thick walls, had lost its roof, likely due to the conflict or subsequent looting.
The work has enabled the reconstruction of the roof and the restoration of the original volume of the space. Additionally, the surrounding area has been conditioned, and original remains have been collected and organized, facilitating a better understanding of the site and improving the visitor experience for citizens.
“"The objective has been to volumetrically recover the structure so that citizens can experience the real space, always respecting heritage criteria."
The project involved a total investment of 48,387.90 euros, of which 34,534.32 euros were financed by the Diputación de València, with the remainder contributed by the Rafelbunyol City Council. This initiative reinforces the municipality's commitment to the protection and dissemination of historical heritage, consolidating this enclave as an accessible memory space for residents and visitors.
