Public non-university teachers in Valencia reach 18 days of indefinite strike this Wednesday, a day marked by university entrance exams and the continuation of the encampment in Valencia.

The strike, which began on May 11th, maintains 100% minimum services during the PAU (university entrance exams). The schedule of mobilizations includes center and regional assemblies this Wednesday, as a prelude to the demonstrations planned for Thursday in Valencia and Alicante.
Talks between the Ministry of Education and teaching unions remain deadlocked. The Generalitat proposes to continue addressing pending issues in technical committees, while STEPV, CCOO, and UGT demand "direct and effective" negotiation with the minister. ANPE and CSIF held online meetings with Ministry representatives to discuss issues such as reducing student-teacher ratios or the Valencian language, but the absence of the other three unions prevented them from being considered negotiation tables.
The non-attendance of STEPV, CCOO, and UGT, representing 70% of the teaching staff, left these meetings as "working groups." The conflict, therefore, remains open, maintaining pressure both in educational centers and on the streets.
The teachers' encampment continues in the Plaza de la Virgen in Valencia, next to the Palau de la Generalitat and in front of the basilica. A group of teachers spontaneously began the protest on Monday night and maintains their demands in tents. During the previous day, teachers organized banner-making workshops, muixeranga activities, and a piano concert. For Wednesday, new activities have been scheduled, including a yoga workshop, mathematical games for children, and a concert by the group Trobadorets.
The mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, has asked to reconcile the right to demonstrate with the Corpus Christi festivities, which this year celebrates its 700th anniversary. Catalá pointed out that the management of the encampment falls under the Government Delegation, although this institution maintains it is a local competence.
The educational mobilization also affects the subsidized private education sector this Wednesday. All unions in the sector have called for a partial strike, with one-hour work stoppages at the start of the workday and concentrations in front of schools. The organizations are demanding progress on partial retirement for teachers, staffing levels, and the delegated payment order. The schedule of stoppages will continue on June 10th and 17th.
