The Popular Party has announced its support for a Vox proposal in Les Corts Valencianes that aims to protect historical constructions, plaques, and elements, including those associated with Francoism, from being removed under the Concord Law.

The PP spokesperson in Les Corts Valencianes, Nando Pastor, confirmed his party's backing for the initiative this Tuesday. Pastor regretted that the Valencian Concord Law is currently before the Constitutional Court

due to the fault of Pedro Sánchez's Government

as, according to him, otherwise this issue would not be debated. Vox's proposal urges the Valencian Government to adopt necessary measures to prevent the destruction or removal of buildings, shields, insignia, and any other elements attached to public buildings or located in public spaces, with the aim of

preserving national historical heritage intact

The Vox spokesperson, José María Llanos, explained that, following the Government's unconstitutionality appeal and the suspension of some provisions of the autonomous law, a modification was made through the Accompanying Law regarding the relocation and re-signification of affected symbols, which

has not been suspended

Therefore, they believe that

it is legally possible to proceed

to maintain these symbols, which include the Cross of the Fallen in Alicante and the Cross of Ribalta Park in Castellón, in addition to

all other symbols that represent our historical heritage

When asked about the association of these symbols with Francoism, Llanos argued that the cross

is 2,000 years old

and

has little to do with political regimes and more to do with our tradition and our faith

The PP spokesperson added that the Concord Law

values and places all victims on the same level

including those of the Republic, Francoism, and ETA, as all deserve the same respect. For his part, the PSPV spokesperson, José Muñoz, criticized Vox for showing

its essence

which is to

defend fascism and all commemorative monuments of fascism

lamenting that the PP has

fallen into the hands

of this party.
