The redevelopment of Giorgeta-Pérez Galdós avenues, considered the most significant urban project in València in recent decades, is progressing as planned to transform the area with new pedestrian spaces and public transport improvements.

The municipal leadership visited the ongoing works this Friday, highlighting the quality and width of the new sidewalks, which now measure between 5 and 7 meters, compared to the previous 1.4 meters. The main objective is to reduce road traffic and enhance the quality of pedestrian areas.

"The pedestrian zone, of course, is much more comfortable, with trees that will provide shade and a better environment. That is to say, this action will turn Pérez Galdós into one of the most beautiful and pleasant avenues in the city."

The project includes the creation of three children's play areas, 2.4 kilometers of new bike lanes, and 15 new bus stops, which will be wider and offer shade. Tree planting and urban furniture installation have already begun, along with streetlights and Valenbisi stations.
With a budget of nearly 24 million euros and covering an area of 100,000 square meters, the project started in June 2025 with an estimated execution period of 14 months in phases. The avenue is expected to reopen to road traffic after the summer, in September, to alleviate mobility issues in the area. The complete installation of urban furniture and trees is scheduled for the end of the year.
Furthermore, the upcoming launch of a commercial voucher program has been announced to revitalize local businesses once the works are completed. This voucher aims to encourage new consumption habits and support businesses affected by the urban intervention.
