The Torrevieja City Council has approved the tender to supply and install the first 40 stalls for the future artisan market at the Port of Torrevieja, an initiative that will enable the progressive return of craft vendors to the waterfront.

The project has a municipal investment of 1,313,143 euros, including VAT. Each stall will cost 22,000 euros plus taxes. The tender initially includes 40 stalls, with the possibility of extending to a maximum of 48 units in this first phase. The maximum execution period will be five months, allowing for progressive installation as manufacturing advances.
With this schedule, the first stalls could begin to be located in the port area during the last quarter of the year. The stalls will be installed in the Customs area of the Port and on Paseo La Libertad, once the urbanization works are completed. The municipal objective is to proceed in phases, adapting to the demand of artisans and the requirements of the new regulations.
The City Council aims to revive the artisan activity, historically linked to the tourist image of Torrevieja, adapting it to the new port design. The initiative will provide the market with more modern and homogeneous facilities, integrating it into the transformation of the port front as a commercial, tourist, and leisure space.
In parallel, work is underway on the initial approval of the new ordinance regulating the artisan market. This regulation will set the operating conditions, hours, and requirements for carrying out the activity. One of the main novelties is the obligation to have the Artisan Qualification Document, issued by the Generalitat Valenciana, to sell in the new venue. Vendors will have four months to obtain it.
The future ordinance will also include the new public domain occupation fee for the port area, which will cover the cost of acquiring and assembling the stalls. With this tender, Torrevieja is initiating a process long-awaited by vendors and citizens, recovering a traditional image of the promenade and reinforcing the commercial and tourist offer of the port.
