Mónica Oltra, former Vice President of the Consell and Compromís candidate for the Valencia City Council, has reappeared at a public event in the Jardí Botànic. She was accompanied by the Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego; the MEP for Podem, Irene Montero; and the First Lady of Brazil, Rosângela Lula da Silva. The meeting, which included representatives from Compromís, Sumar, and Podem, made no reference to potential electoral convergences.
Under the slogan "No to war, no to political violence, for an ecofeminist world," the participants emphasized the importance of women's unity against political violence and advocated for women's presence in decision-making spaces.
“"Do we surrender or do we rise? We rise with all the vertigo and all the fear that it entails."
Oltra described her case as an example of judicial warfare or lawfare, characterizing it as a "ruthless" process that seeks to "destroy" the person once "the slaughter machine is set in motion." Her intervention was met with applause. The former Vice President faces trial for alleged cover-up of sexual abuse by her ex-husband against a minor under guardianship, despite the opposing views of two investigating judges and the Prosecutor's Office.
In the same vein, Irene Montero stated that Oltra "has not yet been forgiven and will be pursued until the end" for having promoted, among other issues, the deprivatization of healthcare. The MEP warned that political violence "strikes one to stop them all."
Sira Rego valued the reunion with Oltra and lamented the "brutality" of the judicial war against feminist women, calling for the strengthening of political ties and collective mobilization.
For her part, Rosângela Lula da Silva argued that political violence against women cannot be normalized, as it perpetuates inequalities, and called for greater female participation in democracy. The participants agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation between women and progressive political spaces, showing harmony without explicit references to potential electoral convergences.
