The town of Muro is presenting its 31st Book Festival, a cultural event that will take place from May 21 to 29 with a comprehensive program of activities for all audiences.

Under the theme 'Mur de lletres' (Wall of Letters), the festival aims to highlight the unifying power of words, in contrast to their use for confrontation. The Culture Councillor, Fernando Picó, emphasized the importance of words as a unifying element, while Muro's librarian, Arianne Hernàndez, described 'Mur de lletres' as a refuge strengthened with each reading.

"Currently, words are used too quickly or to confront. But words can continue to unite."

The program includes conferences by prominent authors such as Purificación Mascarell, Juan Francisco Ferrándiz, Elvira Cambrils, and Mario Obrero, who will present their works and discuss literary and linguistic topics. All these sessions will be held at the Library at 7:30 PM.
Educational centers in Muro are actively participating with various initiatives. CEIP Bracal and CEIP Montcabrer are organizing exhibitions on the centenary of René Goscinny, creator of Asterix and Obelix, while IES Serra Mariola will distribute bookmarks and magnets featuring Valencian and universal authors. Activities such as an English 'escape room' and the recording of literary excerpts for local radio stations will also take place.
The festival will conclude on May 29 with a street book fair, reading promotion workshops, the awarding of children's and youth literature prizes, and a performance by La Factoria de Sons. Cultural manager Àngels Gregori highlighted that the Muro Book Festival is a benchmark in promoting reading, a work that has been recognized with the María Moliner 2025 award for the Muro Municipal Library.
