During the month of April, the definitive reincorporation of all FGV personnel to the facilities and offices of València Sud, located near the Poyo ravine, is underway. In the coming weeks, the renovated headquarters will operate normally, discontinuing the use of provisional facilities, as reported by the Generalitat.
Previously, auxiliary tracks, fixed installation dependencies, and the new intermodal station and parking, along with other dependencies for circulation and driving personnel, had already been put into operation. These improvements have been promoted by the Third Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure, Territory and Recovery, chaired by Vicente Martínez Mus.
The València Sud facilities include the central offices, Command Post, workshops, and other auxiliary buildings such as the Access and Security office, Historical Archive, union headquarters, medical service, and fixed installations. The Data Center of the Command Post itself has also been moved to the upper floors to ensure its operation in adverse circumstances.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has allocated nearly 60 million euros to the reconstruction of the València Sud complex. Of this amount, 30 million euros have been invested in the rehabilitation and equipment of the facilities devastated by water, and more than 28 million euros in the reconstruction of auxiliary tracks, the new station, and parking.
In total, the Generalitat has allocated more than 140 million euros to address the extensive damage caused by the floods to the Metrovalencia network. The main achievement was the recovery of circulation across the entire affected network last June, ensuring service for users. Since then, reconstruction efforts have focused on the operational headquarters without any detriment to travelers.
The new Metrovalencia Command Post will begin trial operations in the coming weeks, allowing the provisional Machado post, created after the DANA, to be phased out. This facility, rebuilt on the first floor of the València Sud office building, will feature an alternative team currently operating in the Machado workshops.
The Command Post is the nerve center that supports all traffic of a railway network. From this facility, circulation is regulated, electrical substations, catenaries, and station installations are controlled, as well as all traveler assistance systems and the citizen security operational center.
Alongside the headquarters, the new València Sud station has been operational since January. This opening, on January 16, has improved accessibility and intermodality, incorporating an underground pedestrian passage connecting the platforms with the parking lot, fully accessible and adapted for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) with three elevators and over 530 parking spaces.
