The district of Massarrojos, in València, has begun its sheep shearing operation with professionals from Uruguay, who are capable of extracting one kilo of wool per animal in just one minute.

The shearing operation has commenced in Massarrojos, a district of València, home to one of the few remaining urban sheep flocks. High temperatures make the wool coat unbearable for the animals, making this the ideal time for shearing and transitioning to their spring-summer 'look'.
Due to the scarcity of shearers in Spain, professionals from Uruguay, renowned for their skill, have been brought in. These experts are capable of shearing a sheep in one minute, obtaining approximately one kilo of wool per animal.

"It has a very good fiber and doesn't need it."

Although wool does not fetch a good price in the current market, the wool from the Guirra sheep is being utilized for a project that transforms it into garments such as dresses or scarves. According to shepherd Ramón San Félix, the wool is not dyed because it "has a very good fiber" that makes it unnecessary.
