The Civil Guard has arrested a 29-year-old Mexican passenger at Valencia Airport who was carrying four kilograms of cocaine hidden in a false bottom of his suitcase, and he has been sent to provisional prison.

The intervention took place as part of a joint operation between the Civil Guard and the Tax Agency. Agents conducted a random check of international connection flights at Valencia Airport, where they intercepted the traveler.
The passenger had started his journey in Mexico and was making a stopover at Barajas Airport (Madrid) before arriving in Valencia. When questioned by agents about the reason for his trip and if he was carrying anything to declare at Customs, he stated that he was traveling for tourism and had nothing noteworthy.
However, during baggage control, his checked suitcase was subjected to an X-ray scan. Agents detected organic matter plates at the bottom of the luggage, which raised suspicions due to their possible connection with narcotic substances.
Given these indications, agents proceeded to open the suitcase. In addition to clothes and personal effects, they found a false bottom with several plastic-wrapped brick-shaped packages. Inside, a pressed white powder was hidden, which, after relevant tests, tested positive for cocaine, with a total weight of 4 kilograms.
The traveler was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health. The investigation was carried out by agents from the UDAIFF unit and the Fiscal and Borders Section of the Civil Guard at Valencia Airport, along with officials from the Tax Agency.
The proceedings have been forwarded to the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of Quart de Poblet, while the detainee remains in prison by judicial order.
