The second day of the indefinite strike in the education sector has once again seen massive participation from teachers. The organizing unions, including STEPV, CSIF, CCOO, and UGT, have reported a turnout close to 75%, a figure they consider unprecedented in this type of mobilization.
The Ministry of Education already acknowledged a turnout exceeding 50% on the first day, which underscores the scope of this protest. The unions demand the immediate convening of the Sectoral Table to address their demands and a greater budgetary effort from the Valencian Government to improve teachers' working conditions and student care.
Protest actions continued today in various towns, with concentrations in markets and streets. Mobilizations will extend over the next few days with a defined schedule:
On Wednesday, May 13, there will be concentrations at the Palau de la Generalitat in València and at the delegations of the Valencian Government in Alicante (Casa de les Bruixes) and Castellón (Casa dels Caragols), all at 12:00 hours.
On Thursday, May 14, concentrations will move to the Ministry of Education and the Territorial Directorates of Alicante and Castellón, also at 12:00 hours.
Finally, on Friday, May 15, a large unitary demonstration will take place in València, starting at Plaza de Sant Agustí at 12:00 hours.
“"It is in the hands of the Ministry to call us to negotiate. Not doing so signifies a lack of willingness on the part of the administration to end the conflict that was already announced in October and to maintain the indefinite strike sine die."
