Education Strike Expands Next Week Amidst Ongoing Negotiations

Teachers' unions maintain pressure on the Generalitat, calling for new actions to demand improvements.

Teachers' unions have announced another week of mobilizations across the three Valencian provinces to demand educational improvements, while awaiting a meeting with the Conselleria de Educación.

The unions calling for the indefinite strike in Valencian education have announced a new week of mobilizations and protests across the three provinces to demand improvements in the educational system and show their rejection of the policies of the Conselleria de Educación. Awaiting the results of the meeting scheduled for Monday between representatives of the Generalitat and the unions, teachers have planned a new week of actions including demonstrations, gatherings, protest events, and assemblies.
Following the unified demonstration on Friday in València, protests will begin on Monday, May 18, with new demonstrations in Alicante, Castellón, and València. According to Stepv, the majority union in public education, the call in Alicante is at 12:00 PM at the steps of IES Jorge Juan. In Castellón, the demonstration will start at 11:00 AM in front of the Dirección Territorial de Educación. In València, union organizations have called for columns to depart at 3:00 PM from various points in the city to the Conselleria de Educación, coinciding with the union meeting.
On Tuesday, May 19, decentralized actions will take place in different towns and regions of the Comunitat Valenciana, with activities such as poster campaigns, gatherings, and protest events organized at the local level.
The central day of mobilization will be on Wednesday, May 20, in València. From 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, organizers are calling for a gathering in front of the Conselleria de Educación headquarters, on Campanar avenue, where performances, round tables, and assemblies will be held.
Mobilizations will continue on Thursday, May 21, with gatherings at 10:00 AM around the Corts Valencianes, coinciding with the session of control to the Consell. There will also be protests at the Generalitat delegations in Alicante (the Casa de las Brujas) and in Castellón (the Casa dels Caragols).
Finally, on Friday, May 22, new actions are called for at the Generalitat's Treasury delegations. In València, there will be a demonstration at 12:00 PM from the Conselleria de Hacienda, at Palau street, 14, to Manises Square, while in Alicante and Castellón there will be gatherings in front of the respective provincial Treasury offices.
