The General Industrial Production Index (IPI) in the Valencian Community has experienced a 2% increase compared to April of the previous year. This data, published by the National Statistics Institute (INE), represents a lower growth than the Spanish average, which stood at 4.2% in the same period. Valencian industrial production thus maintains a positive trend for the second consecutive month.
The INE also reports that the annual industrial production rate increased in fourteen autonomous communities, while it decreased in three. The most significant rises were recorded in Murcia (+9.3%), Castilla-La Mancha (+8.1%), and Andalusia (+8%). Conversely, Extremadura (-10.9%), Balearic Islands (-8.1%), and Asturias (-2.9%) experienced declines.
So far this year, accumulated industrial production in the Valencian Community has seen a decrease of 1.7%, contrasting with the 0.5% increase observed in the national average.
By sector, consumer goods fell by 3.9% in the region, with a 4.5% drop in non-durables and a 1.6% increase in durables. Capital goods decreased by 1.8%, while intermediate goods grew by 1.8% and energy goods experienced a notable increase of 15.5%.
