The Benicalap Park pool will open its doors this Saturday, June 6th, after a comprehensive renovation that involved an investment of 984,117 euros, as announced today by the Generalitat. This project, described by the mayor as the most significant integral rehabilitation in a long time, is part of a total investment of one million euros for its preparation for the summer season.
On the same day, June 6th, the Parc de l'Oest pool will also reopen. Subsequently, on June 13th, the Hípica pool will open, followed by the rest of the city's summer facilities on June 20th. The mayor, María José Catalá, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Rocío Gil, recalled that the Benicalap pool joins the renovations carried out in the last three years at other summer pools such as the Parc de l'Oest, Castellar-l’Oliveral, and El Palmar.
The rehabilitation of the Benicalap pool, originally built in 1983, included the renewal of all machinery and facilities. The company Veolia Servicios Lecam SAU was responsible for the work, which encompassed the replacement of pipes, filtration systems, repair of doors in changing rooms, and the renewal of lighting with LED technology, among other improvements.
Additionally, adaptation work has been completed at the Benicalap Sports Center, with an additional investment of 300,000 euros. These works, resulting from a participatory citizen process, included improving the exterior pavement, repairing the fencing, replacing the lighting of the tennis courts, installing new sports equipment such as goals and a calisthenics set, and repairing coatings and facilities.
The city of València continues to improve its sports infrastructure, with ongoing projects for the La Petxina and Orriols pools, and other facilities such as Nou Moles, El Cabanyal, and La Malva-rosa. The total planned investment for the renovation of sports facilities in 2025 is approaching 36 million euros, a record figure aimed at enhancing the city's activity and healthy habits.
