The La Coma Health Center, located in Paterna, resumed its family and community medicine service today, April 7, 2026, after being closed since November due to assaults on its staff.

The reopening of the center, situated in the Horta Oest region, comes after four months of forced closure. The Ministry of Health has maintained constant dialogue with state security forces and local police to establish a protocol that ensures both access to public healthcare in the neighborhood and the protection of its workers.
Among the new security measures, the center will have three sworn security guards, one more than before, with one inside and two at the entrance. Additionally, the main access will feature a metal detector arch. Surveillance will be intensified, especially during staff entry and exit hours, to prevent incidents.
Changes have also been implemented in patient flow management to avoid overcrowding. The space, with a capacity for approximately 200 people, will limit simultaneous presence to sixty or seventy users. Differentiated circuits will be established based on pathology to optimize care and enhance safety.

"The objective is for the pediatric service to be recovered before summer, provided there is sufficient staff."

Marciano Gómez · Minister of Health
The home care service will be maintained, but basic parameters will be reviewed based on each case's history. If necessary, local police escort can be arranged to ensure the safety of healthcare personnel.
