The Valencia City Council began this Saturday an intensive street cleaning plan that will be carried out during the summer, on Saturdays from 6 to 10 AM, in areas with the highest foot traffic.

The Intensive Summer Cleaning Plan focuses on cleaning streets, bins, and containers in strategic points of the city. The objective is to maintain a clean image of Valencia, especially during the hot months with higher tourist and citizen influx.
The mayor, María José Catalá, has highlighted the importance of citizen and business collaboration to facilitate the work, requesting the removal of vehicles in certain areas to allow cleaning crews access to every corner.
The work includes cleaning with water and disinfectant products, mechanical sweeping, washing of sidewalks and roads, exterior washing of containers and bins, and high-pressure hydro-cleaning to remove stains and graffiti. The anti-graffiti brigade also participates.
For this plan, 61 operators have been assigned, along with 15 manual sweeping carts with blowers, 7 mechanical sweepers, 8 street washing tankers, 4 tipper trucks, 9 high-pressure washers, one steam machine, one gum removal backpack, and 3 brush cutters. Coordination with Mobility and the Local Police is key, with night washing carried out on single-lane stretches to avoid affecting bus circulation.
The work has begun simultaneously in three areas of the city, including Ángel Guimerá street, Burjassot avenue, and Escultor José Capuz street. The intention is that a large part of the city will be thoroughly cleaned by the time Saturday activity begins.
The mayor has reminded that keeping Valencia clean is everyone's job, calling for the correct use of containers, bins, and the furniture and waste collection service.
