The businessman is once again taking the reins of a Fallas commission, at least officially, eleven years after the completion of the Nou Campanar project. This was announced by the Espartero-Ramón y Cajal commission, which has confirmed the change in presidency. A previous president has handed over leadership after starting in 2018 and continuing from 2020 until the last year. The commission has deeply thanked him for his work at the helm.
The commission's leadership now transitions to a joint presidency formed by the businessman and three other members. One of them had previously served as sole president in 2016, 2017, and 2019.
The businessman arrived at Espartero in 2022, marking his fifth project. His history begins at Convento Jerusalén during the second half of the nineties, where he became responsible for artistic projects. Subsequently, he decided to take a solo step to become an alternative in the top category at the Cuba-Buenos Aires commission.
He propelled the Ruzafa commission into the Special Section, but it did not fully take hold. In 2000, he brought the falla to the intersection of Sueca-Dénia with the clear intention of competing for the first prize, but the project failed. However, he secured the first prize in the Special Children's Section in both 2000 and 2001. In 2001, he even demolished a corner property to increase the capacity of the main falla.
But his most notable project was Nou Campanar, in a growing area of the city that he put on the map. He served as its president and general director. With resources and ample space for planting, he achieved seven first prizes in major fallas and as many in children's fallas within the Special Section.
The Nou Campanar project ended with the real estate crisis. The businessman reappeared, with a much lower profile, in San Marcelino a few years later, where he helped the commission almost win in Primera A for several years. Finally, he returned to the city center with the previous president of Espartero, whom he knew as the son of a former colleague on the board of directors of Valencia CF.
“"To make Espartero a reference, an essential visit between two great fallas like Convento and El Pilar. To be part of the route. We are in a central and strategic location. And for that, there is also a board and a commission with a trajectory that needs no introduction."
He arrived in 2022 with the idea of making Espartero a reference. With the main falla, the objective was immediately achieved, securing four consecutive victories in Primera A, the highest category the commission can aspire to due to space limitations. This is what, during the past festivities, was premonitorily dubbed the “Nou Campanar effect”.
The shared presidency, an increasingly common formula in Fallas commissions, involves pooling decisions and distributing tasks. However, in the case of Espartero, everything related to the monuments was already handled by the businessman. One of the presidents will, for legal purposes, be the representative before the Junta Central Fallera.
