Altar del Carmen Wins Saint Vincent Ferrer Miracles Contest Again

The Altar del Carmen's victory in the 2026 edition of the Saint Vincent Ferrer miracles contest solidifies its strong performance.

The Altar del Carmen, representing the children of Ciutat Vella, has once again secured the first prize in Lo Rat Penat's Saint Vincent Ferrer miracles contest in its 2026 edition, reinforcing its prominent position.

For the second consecutive year, the Altar del Carmen has claimed the top award in the prestigious Saint Vincent Ferrer "miracles" contest, organized by Lo Rat Penat. The young performers from Ciutat Vella have once again showcased their talent, while the Russafa altar also maintained its second-place position.
The main awards ranking is completed by the Altar del Pilar in third place, followed by the Altar del Tossal in fourth, and the Altar de Xirivella, which secured fifth prize. Additionally, honorable mentions were awarded to several participating associations, including those from Riba-roja, the Confraria de la Canyada, the Mocadoret, the Mercat de Colón, the Mercat, the Festa dels Chiquets del Carrer de Sant Vicent, the Pila Bautismal, and the Mar.
The winning play was staged last Saturday, at 11 AM, in València's Plaza de la Virgen, as a tribute to the victors. Following the performance, the awards ceremony took place. The play will be performed again at the respective altar on Sunday and Monday.
In the category of best Saint Vincent interpreter, the Lo Rat Penat awards recognized Andreu Martos i Galan from the Xirivella altar, who received the main prize, and Lluís Andreu from Russafa, who was awarded the silver medal.
Regarding the best Valencian pronunciation, in the male category, the awardees were Ricardo Franco Soler from Xirivella and Víctor Pradillo from the Altar del Carmen. In the female category, the recognized individuals were Greta Martí from Xirivella and Beatriz Martínez from the Altar del Pilar. The jury also unanimously decided to grant honorable mentions to Gonzalo Agustí from the Altar del Tossal and Vicente Sebastià from the Pila Bautismal, in recognition of their artistic projection.
The Saint Vincent Ferrer celebrations will continue on Monday, a public holiday, with a pontifical mass at 10:00 AM at València Cathedral. At 12:00 PM, a flower offering to the saint will take place, with a procession starting from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, proceeding along San Vicente street and La Paz street, and concluding at the flower tapestry installed on the facade of Saint Vincent Ferrer's birthplace on Mar street. At 2:00 PM, Plaza Tetuán will host a mascletà by pyrotechnics company Vulcano, and in the afternoon, at 7:00 PM, the procession will depart from the Cathedral.
