The Department of Cleaning and Waste Collection of the València City Council has organized a special operation for San Juan night, which will mobilize 240 people. This operation will begin on Tuesday, June 23rd, and extend until Friday, June 26th, focusing primarily on the northern coastline of the city, on the Cabanyal and Malva-rosa beaches.
The work team, whose numbers have increased by 3 percent compared to the previous year, will utilize a diverse fleet of machinery. This includes eight tractors with mechanical shovels, two 4x4 collection trucks for removing waste bags from the sand, two tractors with sand-cleaning machines, four tanker vehicles for washing the Paseo Marítimo and surrounding areas, and seven mechanical sweepers. Additionally, eleven bins and three hook trucks will be used to remove bonfire remains.
From early on June 23rd, the Paseo Marítimo will be equipped with 20 containers of 1,000 liters, 100 bins of 120 liters for recyclables, and another 100 for general waste. The council will also distribute 5,000 bags of 100 liters to facilitate waste collection by citizens. Between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM on the same day, a mechanical sweeping of the promenade will be carried out, with special attention to areas where firewood is delivered.
Sand cleaning will commence at 4:00 AM on June 24th. Tractors with shovels and sand-cleaning attachments will be progressively deployed on the beach, along with mechanical sweepers and tankers on the promenade. The municipal forecast is for the beaches to be completely clean by approximately 8:30 AM on June 24th, allowing early morning bathers to use them.
The cleaning operation will continue in the following days. On June 25th, the regular service will be reinforced with ten additional workers, and on June 26th, with five more. This increase in manual resources on the northern beach corresponds to the planned reinforcement compared to the previous year and is in addition to the regular high-season service.
On the southern beaches, where lower public attendance is expected due to existing restrictions (fires are not permitted), the council will install waste collection bins on June 23rd. Cleaning work will begin on June 24th at 5:00 AM and is scheduled to finish by 8:30 AM. The operation will involve 43 people, including manual operators and drivers, along with two collection trucks and two hook trucks.
Furthermore, La Marina de València will have a specific cleaning operation consisting of ten people, including manual operators and drivers, one tanker, and two mechanical sweepers.
