The facility, operational since 2005, has been completely updated and automated by the public company Vaersa, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies to address current challenges in waste management.
The third vice president and regional minister of Environment, Infrastructures, Territory and Recovery, Vicente Martínez Mus, visited the plant last Tuesday and emphasized that this renovation represents "a clear commitment to the future of our municipalities and to a more intelligent and responsible way of managing waste".
“"The plant has transitioned from a manual system to a future-ready facility, incorporating optical separators with 95% efficiency."
These new optical separators, implemented by the company Stadler, allow for more precise recovery of materials such as plastics, metals, and paper, significantly reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. The plant has a treatment capacity of 280 tons per shift and receives an average of 25 trucks daily.
The president of the CREA Consortium and mayor of Sax, Laura Estevan, highlighted that the new plant marks "a turning point within the consortium" and thanked the Conselleria for its commitment to this project, which will benefit the 14 municipalities in the area.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the managing director of Vaersa, Víctor Doménech; the regional secretary for Environment, Sabina Galindo; the regional secretary for Infrastructures, Javier Sendra, and the director general of Quality and Environmental Education, Jorge Blanco, along with other municipal representatives.
