The University of Alicante's (UA) Villena Campus has prepared various activities aimed at children to commemorate its 20th anniversary. According to its director, Esther Perales, this program seeks to reinforce the Campus's commitment to education and outreach among the city's youth.
Activities begin with the Children's Poetry and Illustration Workshop, which will take place next Saturday, April 18, at 11:30 AM at the Espacio Joven. This workshop, led by Antonia Rodenas and Paula Alenda, is designed to stimulate the literary and artistic creativity of the youngest participants. To attend, registration is required via a form available on the University Campus website.
The celebration of the University Campus's 20 years is completed with the call for the VIII Children's Micro-story Competition, organized in conjunction with Portal Amalio Gran. Under the theme “Walking through my city,” this initiative aims to encourage reading habits and creativity among children up to 12 years old. Three prizes, consisting of book sets and school supplies, will be awarded, and the participation period will remain open until May 31, 2026.
Additionally, the Campus is promoting the “Images that Inspire: Revealing Science” competition, aimed at 4th-year Secondary Education students from schools in Villena. This proposal brings science closer to students through photography, encouraging observation, scientific curiosity, and creativity. Participants must submit an image related to scientific phenomena, accompanied by a brief explanatory text. Selected works will be part of a public exhibition, and various prizes in educational material will be awarded, including a first prize valued at 170 euros.
With these initiatives, the Villena University Campus reaffirms its commitment to bringing culture, science, and literature to new generations, contributing to their personal and educational development, and consolidating itself as a benchmark in the cultural and educational revitalization of the city.
