The Villena City Council has launched a new web application, villenamaslimpia.app, which uses artificial intelligence to enhance waste management and citizen communication.

The tool, named villenamaslimpia.app, incorporates Artificial Intelligence features to facilitate the correct separation of household waste and centralizes various urban cleaning-related tasks. This platform is part of the improvements introduced in the contract for the municipal solid waste (RSU) collection and cleaning service.
During its presentation, the mayor of Villena, Fulgencio Cerdán, highlighted that the initiatives implemented in recent months are contributing to a visible improvement in the city's condition and the quality of the service provided.
The application is structured into three main sections. The first is dedicated to environmental information and education, where users can consult how to correctly separate waste and identify the appropriate bin for each material. As a new feature, the tool includes an Artificial Intelligence system capable of analyzing a photograph of an object and determining which bin it should be placed in.
The second section allows users to request collection services for bulky items and pruning waste. In the latter case, the City Council reminds that the service is exclusively for individuals and accepts a maximum of one cubic meter of plant waste per request. Although management can be done through the app, attention is also maintained via phone, WhatsApp, and email.
The third section is dedicated to complaints, notices, suggestions, and commendations. Residents can report incidents requiring special attention or express their appreciation to the street cleaning staff and services.
The application's launch also served to introduce the new municipal campaign slogan, "Villena + Clean, Take Care of It!", through which the Council aims to reinforce citizen involvement in maintaining public spaces. According to the mayor, the investments made, the 52% increase in staff, and the machinery renewal must be accompanied by neighborhood collaboration to achieve a cleaner city.
Among the improvements already implemented in the service are the inclusion of cleaning in the district of La Zafra, the increased frequency of bulky item collection throughout the week, and the launch of the domestic pruning collection service. Furthermore, the Councilor for RSU and Cleaning, Francisco Palao, announced that new electric carts for operators, a scrubber, and a reorganization of the container areas will soon be operational to facilitate waste disposal and improve the urban image.
