The Villena City Council, in collaboration with the Central Board of Fiestas of Villena, has announced the rules for the poster contest for the Moors and Christians Festival 2026, which will take place from September 4 to 9 in honor of Our Lady María de las Virtudes.

The call for entries is open to all interested individuals, offering a single prize of 2,000 euros for the winning artwork. Each artist may submit a maximum of three original and unpublished works.
Works must be submitted in A3 paper format, mounted on cardboard or a rigid surface, and also in digital format (jpg/tif). Participants must deliver their creations in a sealed envelope with the artwork's motto written on the back. Additionally, a smaller sealed envelope with the same motto on the outside must be included, containing the author's identity, address, and telephone number.
The deadline for submitting entries is May 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Submissions can be made in person or by mail to the General Registry of the Villena City Council.
The jury's evaluation criteria will include composition and originality, technical and artistic quality, informative or advertising capacity, reproduction conditions, and the artwork's ability to convey the meaning of the Moors and Christians Festival of Villena. Each jury member may award up to a maximum of 30 points.
With this initiative, the Villena City Council reaffirms its commitment to cultural promotion and citizen participation in one of the celebrations declared of National Tourist Interest.
