The fire originated in the vicinity of Pico del Fraile, in the area of Cova Roja, where a column of white smoke triggered all alarms. The alert was received at 4:45 PM, at which point an automatic dispatch was activated to mobilize a large deployment.
The prompt response of the personnel was crucial, as it allowed the fire to be controlled in just over half an hour. After control, efforts continued until its complete extinction, ensuring there were no remaining flames.
The operation involved a forest fire engine from Villena, a forest tender also from Villena, the UMJ Vinalopó, two units of forest firefighters from the Generalitat, and a helicopter-transported unit, demonstrating the coordination of emergency services.
