The Civil Guard has arrested a 62-year-old father and his 31-year-old son in Sax as alleged perpetrators of a marijuana plantation with 476 plants, following neighborhood complaints about electricity supply cuts.

The operation, initiated by complaints from Sax residents about continuous power outages and voltage surges in the electricity supply, allowed the Civil Guard to locate a dwelling with electricity consumption eight times higher than contracted. This anomaly raised initial suspicions about possible illicit activity.
The investigation revealed that the property owner did not habitually reside there but visited frequently. With the support of specialized units, agents detected a high temperature inside, a clear indication of an indoor marijuana plantation. Subsequent surveillance linked a second nearby dwelling, used for logistical tasks such as storage, weighing, and packaging of the drug.
On March 25, once the suspects were identified, both properties were entered and searched. The operation involved personnel from the ROCA Team of the Ibi Company and agents from the Local Police of Sax. During the searches, 476 marijuana plants, 600 grams of vacuum-packed drug, weighing and packaging material, and a large machete were confiscated.
The police intervention confirmed that both homes were fraudulently connected to the electrical grid, which was the cause of the supply alterations reported by residents. The two detainees are accused of a public health crime for marijuana cultivation and another for electricity fraud. They have been released on provisional liberty pending trial, while the judicial investigation continues its course in Villena.
