The Generalitat has significantly increased aid aimed at combating depopulation in the municipalities of Algimia de Almonacid and Vall de Almonacid, in the Alto Palancia region, with the goal of improving the quality of life for their inhabitants.
Over the past three years, the economic effort for these localities has doubled. Algimia de Almonacid has gone from receiving 41,000 euros from the Municipal Cooperation Fund against Depopulation in the 2020-2022 period to 75,485 euros for the 2023-2025 period. For its part, Vall de Almonacid has seen its aid increase from 32,942 euros in the 2020-2022 period to 81,500 euros for 2023-2025.
“
"This means that we are doubling the effort and support for these municipalities in Alto Palancia at risk of depopulation so that services can be guaranteed and the quality of life of their citizens can be improved."
In addition to the increase in the cooperation fund, the Generalitat has granted additional aid for specific projects. In 2026, Algimia de Almonacid will receive 5,372.85 euros for the elimination of architectural barriers in the municipal swimming pool. Vall de Almonacid, for its part, will obtain 104,196 euros for accessibility works in a multi-purpose space intended for the retired area in the municipal social building.
The regional secretary and the general director of Local Administration have also presented the Intergenerational Identity Program in Municipalities at Risk of Depopulation in the Valencian Community. This initiative seeks to strengthen the bond between people, their territory, and the memory of inland towns, fostering roots and return to these localities.
“
"In addition to economic support, we want to highlight that inland municipalities are a territory of opportunity and, for this, it is important to reinforce the idea of roots and identity as a way to value the opportunity of these territories."
The intergenerational identity program aims to foster the value and pride of living in inland municipalities, as well as strengthen community life through culture and participation. It is aimed at families and children, and seeks to enhance the attractiveness of these spaces as places of life, community, and future. Activities are developed in collaboration with the creator of the Habilinatura project, a cultural and educational initiative that promotes participatory experiences through oral storytelling for children, play, and environmental exploration.
