The Mancomunidad of Alto Palancia has launched a pilot project aimed at young people aged between 16 and 21 who have left their studies and are currently neither working nor possess professional qualifications.
The initiative is part of the Jove Oportunitat (JOOP) program, promoted by the Institut Valencià de la Joventut and co-financed by the European Social Fund. Its objective is to help these young people regain motivation and re-engage in education, improving their personal and professional skills to facilitate access to new educational and professional opportunities, particularly Intermediate Vocational Training cycles.
The main novelty of this edition is its adaptation to the rural environment, as it will be developed in an itinerant format across different municipalities in the region. In this first phase, eight young people from Almedíjar, Altura, Jérica, Sot de Ferrer, Soneja, and Viver are participating. In-person sessions began on May 5th and will continue until July 31st, with online activities planned for September.
The program combines various intervention lines, including personal guidance through coaching sessions focused on self-esteem, motivation, and attitude change, as well as professional guidance with visits to companies and training resources. The figure of the itinerant 'coach' acts as a guide throughout the process, both individually and in groups. In addition to traveling to municipalities to assist participants, joint sessions will be held in Soneja, Viver, and Jérica with free transportation.
Participant recruitment has been carried out in collaboration with the Mancomunidad of Alto Palancia, the region's institutes, and Labora. The project also includes specific actions related to employment and sustainability. On June 1st, the Pact for Employment and Local Development will offer a workshop on the labor market and new FP training programs, while on June 2nd, an activity on environmental sustainability will take place in Azuébar in collaboration with Imedes.
The program focuses on potential career paths linked to the rural environment, such as jobs related to fire prevention and extinction, environmental management, or tourist information. JOOP also works on personal and social skills like emotional management, coexistence, responsibility, and decision-making, and involves families as part of the support and change process.
