The Castellón Provincial Council will allocate 451,000 Euros for the remodeling of the El Olivar football pitch in Caudiel, an initiative set to improve facilities for grassroots football in the Alto Mijares and Alto Palancia regions.

The project will be realized through an agreement between the provincial institution and the Caudiel City Council. The plan includes the installation of artificial turf and enhancements to the sports venue's irrigation system efficiency.
Provincial president, Marta Barrachina, highlighted the importance of this action for the young athletes in the area. "Sport is a powerful tool against rural depopulation, and with this agreement, we are addressing a demand that will significantly improve the safety and enjoyment for all users of this football pitch, eliminating the need to travel to other municipalities for training," she stated.
Barrachina emphasized that "this action is part of this Government team's commitment to ensure all municipalities have accessible, dignified, safe, and modern sports facilities." The planned improvements will expand sports activities within the municipality and reduce the necessity for travel to other towns for training or competition.
The provincial official remarked that the project also contributes to retaining population in rural areas. "Faced with rural depopulation, sport becomes a strategic tool capable of generating community, well-being, and local dynamism," she affirmed, adding that "sport creates roots, and when a town offers active leisure opportunities, it becomes a more attractive place to live."
The youth academy of Club Atlético Caudiel gathers players from various municipalities in both regions. With the remodeling funded by the Council, the pitch will be able to serve more clubs and establish itself as a leading sports facility at an inter-regional level.
The El Olivar football pitch hosted the fourth edition of the Torneo Gol a la Despoblación (Goal Against Depopulation Tournament), an event that brought together teams from different categories and advocates for sport's role as a driver of social cohesion and local development in small rural municipalities.
