The fire alert was received at 02:19 AM for a fire in a garage located on Ausias Carbonell street in Jijona. This is a residential street in the Alicante municipality where several buildings with community parking lots are concentrated.
Two command vehicles, three fire engines from the San Vicente and Ibi stations, and a water tender from the San Vicente station were dispatched to the scene. This type of water tender provides a greater water supply and reinforces interior firefighting efforts.
According to the Consortium, upon arrival of the first crews, firefighters detected dense smoke and explosions inside the garage. At that moment, it was confirmed that 51 vehicles were parked in the facility, which required extreme caution and reinforcement of the operation.
Given the magnitude of the fire, four fire crews from the San Vicente station and one from the Ibi station were ultimately mobilized. The teams worked in coordination for several hours to control the flames within the enclosed parking space.
The Provincial Firefighters Consortium indicated that 'multiple vehicles' suffered damage of varying degrees in the fire, both from the flames and the intense smoke accumulated inside. Some cars were completely destroyed, while others were less affected.
The work initially focused on extinguishing the fire in the most damaged vehicles and then on completely ventilating the garage. The facility was filled with smoke, requiring firefighters to use self-contained breathing apparatus and extraction systems to ensure safety.
The operation, which resulted in no injuries, concluded at 7:27 AM when personnel declared the fire under control and completed the ventilation. The area was subsequently secured to allow user access and the removal of affected vehicles, under the supervision of emergency services.
