The Montanejos City Council has initiated the processing of an amendment to its General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) to adapt the regulations of the historic center to current energy, environmental, and technological needs.

The proposal, corresponding to punctual modification number 3, introduces two main changes. On the one hand, it will allow the installation of renewable energy systems on roofs, such as solar panels, provided they are adequately integrated into the environment. Until now, this option was restricted in the old town, which hindered the implementation of sustainable solutions.
On the other hand, the modification includes a review of the regulations on exterior carpentry. The current regulations required the exclusive use of wood, while the new approach will allow alternative materials such as aluminum or PVC, provided they respect the traditional aesthetic. This measure will facilitate the improvement of thermal and acoustic insulation in homes, as well as the reduction of energy consumption.

"This update responds to the current context of climate and energy emergency, favoring the efficiency of buildings and promoting clean energies without renouncing the protection of local heritage."

The modification does not affect land classification or urban uses, as it focuses on specific aspects of building and urban image. Furthermore, according to technical reports, no significant environmental impacts are foreseen, so the procedure is processed through a simplified environmental assessment.
Montanejos takes a step towards a more sustainable urban model, facilitating the modernization of its building stock while preserving the heritage and landscape values of the municipality.
