The Valencian Association of Tourism Journalists and Writers has held a posthumous tribute to José Luis Serrano Fabregat, former vice-president of the entity and co-founder of Castellón Información, in the town of Catí.

The Valencian Association of Tourism Journalists and Writers (Avpyetur) has organized an emotional tribute to José Luis Serrano Fabregat, who was vice-president of the entity and one of the founding pillars of Castellón Información. The event took place on June 14th in the historic town of Catí, located in the Alt Maestrat region.
José Luis Serrano, who passed away on January 2nd, 2025, at the age of 79, left a significant mark on journalism and associative work. Members of the Avpyetur board unanimously highlighted his profound human quality, his joy, and his constant entrepreneurial spirit, always focused on promoting knowledge and the province of Castellón, its festivals, and traditions.
The event, organized by photographer Vicent Juliá Vives, was attended by prominent members of the association, including president Luis María Agudo and honorary president Rafael Cebrián. After a meal at the Casa de Banys de L’Avellà, president Luis María Agudo presented Pilar Marín, Serrano's widow, with the association's silver emblem as a token of admiration. A moment was also dedicated to remembering Palmira, wife of Rafael Cebrián, who recently passed away.
True to Serrano's divulgative spirit, the morning included a guided tour of Catí's heritage, led by Mar Mallol, head of the Tourist Office, with the collaboration of local historical researcher Paco Segarra. Attendees visited the 15th-century Lonja (old Town Hall), the Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary with its famous altarpiece, and the alcove where Saint Vincent Ferrer stayed in 1410.
With this act, Avpyetur honors the memory of a tireless promoter of Castellón's culture, whose legacy lives on in the memory of his colleagues and in Castellón Información, the journalistic project he helped to establish and consolidate.
