The provincial institution, through the Provincial Tourism Board, has awarded the UJI the task of preparing a feasibility study and an economic-financial exploitation study. These reports are an indispensable preliminary step before tendering the operation of the thermal center.
“"The results of these reports will set the conditions for the tender to favor the tourist development of the municipality and the profitability of the Spa, which in turn will contribute to the economic growth of the area and the province as a whole."
The provincial vice president emphasized the importance of the Benassal Spa as a tourist resource and a generator of opportunities for the municipality and the entire province of Castellón. To ensure its sustainability and optimize its operation, the Provincial Tourism Board has awarded the two studies to the UJI for an amount of 9,000 euros (plus VAT).
The feasibility study will aim to determine the operational sustainability of the Spa and its positive impact on the local economy. It will include a detailed analysis of market conditions, competition, potential demand, necessary infrastructure, and possible obstacles and opportunities for improvement. For this purpose, technicians from the Provincial Council and the UJI will meet with local agents in Benassal to gain first-hand knowledge of the current supply and demand.
Regarding the economic-financial exploitation study, it will focus on evaluating the economic profitability of the Benassal Spa. Potential revenues, operating costs, necessary investments, and short-term and long-term financial scenarios will be analyzed. The goal is to forecast the financial viability and benefits of proper facility operation, ensuring a tender adjusted to reality.
The commissioning of these studies is part of the Provincial Government's roadmap to find the best future option for the Benassal Spa. Since the first meeting on August 23, 2023, about twenty meetings have been held to analyze the infrastructure's status and seek solutions for its reopening. The Castellón Provincial Council has met with the Benassal City Council and companies in the tourism and health sectors to unblock the reopening and revitalize the territory.
