Three Injured in Head-on Collision on A-7 in Tibi Due to Wrong-Way Driver

The accident mobilized an extensive emergency response and affected traffic on the highway throughout Sunday afternoon.

A serious traffic accident on the A-7, within the municipality of Tibi, left three people injured after a head-on collision caused by a vehicle driving in the wrong direction.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, near kilometer 480 of the highway, in the area of the Tibi exit. The General Directorate of Traffic reported a closure of all lanes with a red traffic level due to the accident.
The three injured individuals are two women aged 69 and 47, and a 79-year-old man. All of them received initial treatment at the scene by medical teams and were subsequently transferred to hospitals in Alcoy and Elda for further medical attention.
According to information from the Provincial Fire Consortium, the alert was received at 4:38 PM. The vehicle driving in the wrong direction, occupied by two elderly individuals, reportedly entered the highway via the entrance towards Tibi.
Due to the severity of the accident, the medical helicopter Alfa 9 was activated as medical support, in addition to a SAMU unit and two Basic Life Support units. Crews from the Ibi and San Vicente fire stations, totaling six units, intervened to assist the injured and secure the area.
