The presentation of MUA2026, held in the press room of Unión Alcoyana Seguros, revealed the novelties for this edition. The race, traditionally held in mid-December, is moving to late November to offer a new experience to participants. The event aims to be a meeting point for popular sports, citizens, clubs, families, and companies, as well as promoting the city of Alcoy.
MUA2026 maintains a structure designed to accommodate different runner profiles, including federated athletes, youth, minors, and companies. The race will feature an urban route, runner services, entertainment, and volunteer collaboration, with a clear participatory focus. Specific categories for companies and clubs have been introduced, with teams of four athletes competing in a quarter marathon distance, aiming to broaden collective participation.
The starts for the half marathon and quarter marathon will be held jointly. The organization plans to distribute starting corrals by performance and gender to ensure an orderly start. The Alcoy Unión Alcoyana Seguros Half Marathon reaches its 15th edition as a recognizable and stable event, with an average of 1,500 participants, attracting runners from other towns and increasing female presence.
The Club Atletisme Alcoi and the organizing team are working to provide a safe and attractive experience. Institutional collaboration, sponsor support, and volunteers are key to the race's development. A priority registration period with a discount will be offered to participants from previous editions. Registrations will open on July 6th via the website mitjamaratoalcoi.com, with different price tiers.
The Alcoy City Council and the Centre d'Esports highlight the half marathon's role in energizing the city and promoting healthy habits. Unión Alcoyana Seguros, as host, has emphasized its connection with Alcoy and its sporting events, reinforcing values such as effort, commitment, and local roots.
