The Ibi Plenary has postponed a modification to the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) that would have facilitated the installation of festival venues in an old warehouse, highlighting the local government's minority.

The decision, driven by the Partido Popular and supported by Som Ibi-Compromís and Vox, prevents the initiation of the process for establishing comparsas in the former Talleres Avenida warehouse. This paralysis underscores the PSOE's lack of majority after Som Ibi's expulsion from the government last February, leading to a dispute between the government and the opposition.
The socialists have denounced that the three parties forced the item to be left on the table «without debate or opinion», warning of the impact on comparsas and neighborhood coexistence due to the lack of a structural solution. They accuse the opposition of having made «excuses» to block the proposal.

"This decision puts many comparsas at risk, especially the smaller ones, who may be forced to set up their zocos in public spaces."

From the socialist group, it is insisted that the file, drafted by the technicians of the Urban Planning area, is «administratively, technically and legally correct», rejecting the opposition's arguments about alleged «ambiguities and inconsistencies». The government team considers that these criticisms respond to «an excuse not to support the measure».
The proposed modification seeks to address a historical problem in the municipality: the lack of permanent headquarters for various comparsas. This situation generates annual uncertainty among the affected groups and hinders the planning and regulation of festival activities.
For its part, Som Ibi believes that the situation of the festival headquarters must be addressed globally and proposed a joint working meeting between property owners, administration, neighborhood associations, and comparsas to provide legal certainty. The Partido Popular has called for transparency, rigor, and responsibility in the processing of the urban modification, emphasizing the need to explicitly state the actual tertiary use intended for the area.
