The 'festeros' of Alcoy have started collecting the necessary ammunition for the 'Alardo', the central act of the Moors and Christians festivities, which will take place next Monday. Since ten in the morning, the distribution of gunpowder has begun at the Preventorio and will continue until Friday.
In total, 2,960 kilograms of gunpowder will be distributed, a considerable amount that will shake the city during the symbolic dispute between Moors and Christians. This process, given the flammable nature of the material, requires extreme security measures.
To collect the gunpowder, 'festeros' must present an authorizing QR code, their DNI (national identity document), and a muzzle-loading license. If they wish to collect gunpowder for a companion, it is essential to indicate who they are from the official list of shooters, thus ensuring thorough control.
Security also extends to the transport of the material. Strict limitations have been established: only four kilograms of gunpowder can be transported if two people are in the vehicle, and two kilograms if there is only one person. The Civil Guard and the Local Police, along with the officials from the Sant Jordi Association, supervise the entire process to ensure compliance with regulations.
