This afternoon, the sixth blood donation campaign of 2026 is taking place in La Nucía, specifically at the El Cirer Social Hall, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The event is organized by the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community.
The Health Department of the La Nucía City Council has emphasized the importance of donation, stating that "blood is more necessary than ever." All charitable citizens are encouraged to participate without needing to pre-register or have a donor card. The City Council is providing the El Cirer Social Hall facilities free of charge for this initiative.
It is reminded that "blood cannot be manufactured" and the only way to obtain it is through "solidary, voluntary, and altruistic donation." The requirements to donate are to be over 18 and under 65 years old, and weigh more than 50 kilograms. It is recommended to drink and eat before donating, and it is possible to donate even with high cholesterol. Men can donate four times a year, and women three times.
The daily need for blood in the province of Alicante is estimated at 250 donations to cover surgical interventions, oncological patients, transplants, anemias, and complicated childbirths, as well as to maintain optimal reserves. Donation is considered a simple and altruistic act that can make a difference in the lives of many people.
