The VII Gala of Centenary Companies today celebrated the trajectory of seven historic companies from the province of Alicante, in an event organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Alicante and the Association of Family Business of the province of Alicante (AEFA). The event, held at the Teatro Principal in Alicante, brought together over 500 attendees and highlighted the longevity of companies that have surpassed a century of activity, forming part of the economic, social, and family fabric of their municipalities.
The firms honored this year were Aceitunas Serpis (from Alcoy), Antiu Xixona (from Jijona), Antonio Cascales Gómez S.L. (from Redován), Azafranes La Llave (from Novelda), Fundiciones Balaguer (from Onil), Herboristería y cerámica Vicente Pascual (from Alicante), and Uvas Cabrera (from Benissa). With these additions, the Club of Centenary Companies now has 48 members.
The event was opened by the mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, and included the participation of the president of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Toni Pérez; the president of the Chamber, Carlos Baño; the president of AEFA, Maite Antón; and the territorial director of Cajamar, Manuel Nieto, a sponsor of the gala.
Among the recognized trajectories, Herboristería y cerámica Vicente Pascual, founded in 1893 in Alicante, stands out. The award was presented by Luis Barcala and received by members of the Pascual Fuentes family. Azafranes La Llave, a company from Novelda founded in 1911, received the award from Maite Antón, who emphasized the importance of business consolidation and generational continuity, with an average age of the awarded companies being 121 years.
The gala also recognized Fundiciones Balaguer (from Onil, founded in 1916), Aceitunas Serpis (from Alcoy, founded in 1926), Antonio Cascales Gómez S.L. (from Redován, founded in 1925), Antiu Xixona (from Jijona, founded in 1863), and Uvas Cabrera (from Benissa, founded in 1895). The president of the Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Baño, highlighted the territorial roots of these companies, while the president of the Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, closed the event.
The Club of Centenary Companies, established in 2019, aims to identify and bring together companies from the province of Alicante with over one hundred years of history. Currently, there are around a hundred candidate companies to join this club, which holds its annual gala to integrate new firms from various sectors.
