The fortress will host a variety of events including Fire Nights, family theater, comedy shows, exhibitions, children's activities, gastronomic experiences, and guided tours, catering to diverse audiences.
Among the most notable events are the Fire Nights, returning from June 25th to 29th, coinciding with the fireworks displays of the Hogueras de San Juan. This experience allows attendees to view the fireworks from one of Alicante's most unique locations, complete with a welcome cocktail and a specially designed menu. The event has become one of the most anticipated activities in the castle's annual program.
The cultural program will continue into the first week of July with the opening of the exhibition The Young Reporter and His Adventures at Santa Barbara Castle, on display in the Sala Taberna. The exhibition, based on the private collection of Enrique Lucas, invites visitors to explore the fortress through the eyes of a young reporter inspired by Tintin.
Throughout the summer season, the castle will also host an outdoor exhibition, in collaboration with D.O.P. Alicante, aimed at promoting Alicante wines among tourists and visitors.
Theater will also feature prominently with Cuentos de Pocas Luces (Tales of Few Lights), a contemporary shadow theater performance by the company A la Sombrita, recognized with several national awards. The play will be performed throughout July in the newly renovated Baluarte de Santa Ana.
Comedy will once again be part of the summer nights with a new edition of Risas en el Castillo (Laughter at the Castle), a series that will bring together prominent national comedians every Saturday in July and August.
The children's program will maintain a leading role. In June, the musical theater production Un Pez en el Castillo (A Fish in the Castle) by the company Pez al Revés will be presented. In August, it will be the turn of puppet theater with La Sorpresa del Oso Andrés (Andrés the Bear's Surprise), by the company ArteFusión.
The offerings for younger visitors will be complemented by permanent activities such as the Treasure Hunt, a puzzle game designed to discover the fortress's most surprising corners, and activities at the Jardín del Polvorín (Powder Magazine Garden), including games, crafts, and creative workshops.
The cultural program is enhanced by a wide range of gastronomic experiences at the Baluarte de la Mina, featuring tastings of Alicante products, D.O.P. Alicante wines, craft beers, and rosé wines from Tuesday to Saturday at sunset.
Santa Barbara Castle will complete its summer program with guided and theatrical tours for those wishing to learn about the history, legends, and heritage of this emblematic Alicante monument.
