The Housing Department has assigned two of the four public apartments for the elderly, located on Petrer street in San Vicente del Raspeig, under a rental agreement. These homes, part of a block designed twenty years ago, offer affordable rent for low-income retirees who can live independently.
The houses, managed by the Valencian Housing and Land Entity (EVHA), were temporarily boarded up to prevent illegal occupations and fraudulent electricity hookups, as occurred in November 2025. Following necessary repairs and the eviction of an illegally occupied dwelling in May, two of the properties have now been allocated and their new tenants are residing in them.
One of the recovered units is still pending inspection for refurbishment, while the adjacent one, also boarded up, is undergoing repairs for subsequent allocation. As a preventive measure, an anti-squatting door and an alarm system have been installed.
In parallel, repairs have begun on the main door's intercom system, a process delayed by the transition between maintenance companies. The doorbell panel and lock are scheduled for replacement.
Esquerra Unida de San Vicente, which has been denouncing the housing emergency situation, has highlighted that their persistence has prompted the Generalitat's action. The party believes that two blocked units still need to be made available to seniors and criticizes the local government's stance.
