Sociologist Vicente Pastor Urios has published the book "Los mandatos municipales de 1910-1911 y 1912-1913", narrating the republican triumph in San Vicente del Raspeig.

The municipality of San Vicente del Raspeig experienced a historic moment on October 30, 1910, when republicans achieved victory in the municipal elections, breaking with the monarchist candidacy during the Bourbon Restoration era. This event has been brought to light by the San Vicente sociologist Vicente Pastor Urios in his new book, titled "Los mandatos municipales de 1910-1911 y 1912-1913: triunfo republicano en las elecciones municipales de 1910 y 1911 en San Vicente del Raspeig".
The publication, part of the Cercle d'Estudis Sequet però Sanet, a cultural association dedicated to researching and disseminating local history, sheds light on an event that Pastor Urios discovered eight years ago through a friend. Since then, he has undertaken an exhaustive research effort, consulting contemporary press and general history works, including reproductions of original journalistic documents.
The book covers several chapters, from the historical, social, and political introduction to the protagonists and the municipal mandate periods. Pastor Urios, who does not reside in the municipality but feels a strong connection to his roots, analyzes how national political and social events, such as the Tragic Week of Barcelona in 1909, had repercussions at the local level. He also mentions the presence of prominent politicians like Alejandro Lerroux in the municipality.
The social effervescence of the time created a favorable climate for the arrival of republicans to the Mayor's office, led by Pedro Lloret. Changes in leadership within the Liberal party, with Manuel Botella at the helm in San Vicente, triggered extraordinary elections. The republicans seized this opportunity with the slogan "Do the opposite of what has been done in the City Council until now," achieving a victory that, however, faded just a few years later, in 1913.
The Councilor for Culture, Óscar Lillo, has highlighted the "enormous work" of the Cercle d'Estudis, emphasizing the importance of associations like this that altruistically recover the municipality's history. The City Council has collaborated with the entity by providing premises and co-publishing books, demonstrating the "undeniable" value of their work.
