The neighborhood association Juntos Avanzamos from Playa de San Juan, Alicante, has announced mobilizations if a firm commitment for the construction of a new health center in the district is not achieved before June.

The lack of a new health center in the Playa de San Juan district, Alicante, has led the neighborhood association Juntos Avanzamos to escalate its demands. After eleven years of claims, the entity directly points to the political class as responsible for a "systematic abandonment" suffered by the neighborhood.

"The lack of a new health center has ceased to be a technical problem to become a deliberate political decision."

District 4, which includes Playa de San Juan, has 80,000 registered residents, a figure that quadruples in summer to reach 300,000 users. Currently, the area relies on the Cabo Huertas health center and a clinic on Brussels Avenue, which presents "serious deficiencies and insalubrity due to the presence of rodents in the false ceilings," according to neighborhood spokespersons.
The association expresses its support for other city neighborhoods that are seeing their health infrastructures advance, such as El Garbinet and La Torreta. However, it laments that this situation "evidences a painful reality: the Administration has the capacity to act, but chooses not to prioritize the area with the highest growth and healthcare pressure in Alicante."

"We are sincerely happy for the residents of El Garbinet and La Torreta, who already have machines working on their health centers. But it is outrageous that we, with a much larger population, are still waiting. This is a political decision. That is why we demand it forcefully from all political leaders: those who manage and those who intend to do so. They are actively ignoring us."

Given this situation, the association has issued an ultimatum: if a meeting at the highest level with the president of the Generalitat and a real commitment is not made before June, District 4 will mobilize. They warn that the protest will be "forceful" and will use all its resources to ensure "massive neighborhood participation."

"Our health and that of our families is not negotiable. We have exhausted the path of dialogue; if politics turns its back on us, the residents will respond in the streets."
