Speaking to journalists in the city of Alicante, the minister explained that regularization processes have been a constant in governments of different political affiliations. He added that, perhaps, at this moment the right-wing is unwilling to concede anything and questions what they themselves carried out at other times.
“"Regularization is nothing more than granting full rights to people who are already here to prevent them from having to work clandestinely, and live hidden or in fear."
The socialist minister recalled that Spain and Europe are very aging territories and that, were it not for the contribution received from outside, they would be a continent in decline. He insisted that people cannot be kept clandestine in our country for months or years, living and working irregularly.
“"Anything that is immigration that can contribute, and help us… welcome it."
The minister participated in the demonstration through the streets of central Alicante because, as he has publicly admitted, this province has become his second home. However, he clarified that the possibility of him running in the next general elections for this constituency is a speculation without any foundation.
