The union has described the level of minimum services established as an “injustice,” considering them “so high that they are maximums rather than minimums.” For its part, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has not provided official data on the follow-up of this strike day.
They are so high that they are maximums rather than minimums.
This strike is part of a calendar of stoppages that includes the days of April 16, 21, 23, 28, and 30. Service interruptions occur in three time slots: from 07:00 to 10:00, from 13:00 to 16:00, and from 19:00 to 21:00, affecting both Valencia and Alicante.
The reasons for these stoppages extend the protests initiated in March, generated by the drivers' discontent with the “inaction of the company” regarding their proposals. According to SEMAF, the call responds to a total of 30 demands presented to FGV within the framework of two conflict resolution commissions. Of these, ten are related to technical operational safety and twenty to the XIV Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Among the main demands of the drivers are professional recognition of the group, organizational improvements, stability in key safety positions, the implementation of a fair culture, and the regulation of temporary employment pools. Metrovalencia has established minimum services of 75% on all its metro and tram lines, allowing a significant part of the circulation to be maintained despite the massive adherence to the strike.
