The Valencian Community held silent gatherings this Wednesday in several municipalities to show their rejection of the murder of a woman and her son in the town of Dolores.

The call, promoted by the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, had a significant following in cities such as Alicante, Valencia, and Elche, in addition to the municipality where the events took place. The institutions wanted to convey their support and solidarity to the friends and families of the victims.
In the case of Alicante, the gathering took place at the doors of the city council, with the presence of representatives of the municipal corporation, unions, and security forces. Similarly, in the Valencia City Hall square, authorities and citizens held a minute of silence in memory of the two deceased.
The Government delegate in the Valencian Community presided over one of the events and took the opportunity to recall the importance of remaining alert to sexist violence, describing it as a structural reality that requires the involvement of the entire society and the administrations.
According to official data, so far this year there have been 21 women murdered due to gender-based violence in Spain, three of them in the Valencian territory. The authorities have reminded that victims have at their disposal support resources such as the 016 telephone number, WhatsApp 600 000 016, or the 24-Hour Women's Center.
