A person with symptoms compatible with hantavirus has been admitted to a hospital in Alicante, after having been in contact with a woman who died in South Africa.

The Secretary of State for Health has reported on the admission of this individual, who is in isolation in a hospital room. The situation is considered a suspected case of hantavirus, and all necessary precautions are being taken for its management.
A PCR sample has been taken from the admitted person and will be sent to the National Center for Microbiology. Results are expected within the next 24 hours, which will confirm or rule out the presence of the virus.
Furthermore, a second person who also had contact with the deceased woman in Johannesburg and whose final destination was Spain has been identified. However, this second person is already in South Africa, as confirmed by the Secretary of State.
