During his visit, the Government delegate in Alicante stated that regularization is a "necessary and responsible" measure for people already living and working in Spain, who should be able to do so with full rights and guarantees. He highlighted that this initiative has broad social, political, and economic support, offering legal certainty within the current legal framework.
The delegate framed regularization as a process requiring coordination among administrations and effective citizen attention. In this regard, he positively valued the role of several municipalities in the province, such as Elda, Villena, Alcoy, and Dolores, for their "clear and effective" attention during this process.
“"They will not find us in political battles. This process demands responsibility, coordination, and institutional stature."
However, he regretted that city councils like Alicante and Elche are not making the same effort at this time. He insisted on the importance of all administrations being coordinately involved to respond to a regularization affecting numerous people in the province.
The delegate concluded that regularization not only promotes integration but also strengthens the labor market and contributes to the sustainability of the Welfare State, thus linking the process to both social cohesion and the economic sphere.
