This project, which has involved an investment of approximately 1,260,000 euros, addresses the progressive degradation of the road surface due to traffic and the passage of time. Following a break for the recent holidays, work is intensifying to conclude the structural renovation of the pavement.
The General Directorate of Terrestrial Infrastructures is executing this work, which is part of the regional road conservation program. Once the asphalt resurfacing is completed, improvements to other elements will continue, especially signage, which is being coordinated with the DGT, and safety barriers to optimize visibility for motorcyclists.
The section under intervention records an Average Daily Traffic (ADT) of 1,300 vehicles, with 11% heavy traffic. This mountain road includes the Carrasqueta pass, at kilometer point 29+400, and is frequented by a high number of cyclists and motorcyclists, especially on weekends.
The road surface previously showed longitudinal and transverse cracks, as well as inadequate surface regularity in certain sections, causing uncomfortable driving conditions. With this intervention, the goal is to increase the road's capacity to adapt it to traffic demands and improve safety and comfort by reinforcing the wearing course and protecting the entire road surface.
