The fire, located near the racó de creu, was reported at 5:16 PM, at which point an automatic dispatch with a fire direction helicopter was activated. Initially, three fronts were detected, which heightened concerns about its evolution.
The complex topography of the Maigmó mountain range necessitated the immediate intervention of aerial resources. The priority was to take advantage of daylight hours to try and contain the flames in a forest area where ground access is particularly challenging.
In parallel, fire brigades and forest firefighters were deployed to work from the ground, supporting aerial resources and attempting to halt the spread of the fire in this especially vulnerable mountain area.
Initially, the operation involved three aerial resources, two helitransported units, and three brigades from the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium, originating from the Ibi, Cocentaina, and San Vicente del Raspeig stations. Two units of Generalitat forest firefighters and two fire engines were also mobilized.
Subsequently, Emergencias 112 CV updated the deployment, adding more resources to reach a total of six aerial resources, three helitransported units, eight brigades from the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium, six Generalitat forest firefighter units, and five fire engines. The operation remains active, focused on containing the fire and preventing its expansion through the mountain range.
