The woman admitted to a hospital in the province of Alicante for hantavirus monitoring will continue her quarantine at home until June 5th, after registering five consecutive negative PCR test results and showing no symptoms throughout the surveillance period.
The Generalitat reported this Monday that the patient has already been transferred to her home in an ambulance “equipped with the safety measures established in the protocol of the Ministry of Health” for this type of case.
According to health protocol, the woman must remain isolated in a single-use room, “preferably with a private bathroom and good ventilation”, and will have a phone or internet connection to maintain “permanent” contact with the professionals in charge of monitoring.
The regulations also establish that cohabitants must use FFP2 masks in shared spaces and maintain strict hand hygiene measures throughout the quarantine.
Home monitoring will be handled by Public Health through “daily active surveillance” until the isolation period ends. Additionally, the patient must periodically monitor her body temperature and immediately report any symptoms compatible with the disease.
Before receiving hospital discharge, the woman signed a document “of information and commitment to home quarantine” in which she declares having received all preventive instructions and commits to complying with the instructions established by health authorities during the monitoring period.
